Network Engineer

Lancium is seeking a Network Engineer to join our expanding team. Lancium is a technology company creating software and technical solutions that enable the faster growth of renewable energy. Our products include Lancium Smart Response for server power management, the Lancium Compute Platform for high-throughput computing applications and Lancium Clean Compute Centers that absorb excess renewable energy. These solutions help ensure that renewable energy can power our future.

Lancium’s technical headquarters are located in Northwest Houston. The Network Engineer will join a dynamic company with considerable room for advancement as the company expands into new markets and geographies.

Duties
  • Responsible for the planning, installation, configuration and monitoring of network infrastructure including multiple on-site LANs and redundant upstream WAN links.
  • Responsible for creating network documentation.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting equipment in the production environment.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for network related issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VPNs.
Required Skills
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • 4+ years of experience with network administration
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • Flexibility to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations; open to new ideas and procedures.
  • High motivation to work with minimal supervision in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and triage workflow.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds of computer/network equipment when necessary
Preferred Experience
  • CCNP or equivalent
  • Working Knowledge of DHCP and Split-horizon DNS
  • Experience managing BGP routing and traffic balancing across upstream transit providers
  • Understanding of VLAN/VXLAN
  • Experience with Cumulus NOS
  • Experience with 100Gb/s Fiber Ethernet
  • Experience with firewall policies and network security
Required Education
Bachelor’s (Preferred) or equivalent combination of education, technical or work experience.
Work Environment

The Network Engineer will primarily work in Lancium’s Houston office. Work locations may include data centers with both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled conditions. There may be exposure to extreme temperatures, noise and vibration, and mechanical or electrical hazards.
