Director/Senior Analyst of Transmission & Interconnection

The Asset Optimization team is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the earnings from the real-time physical operation of Lancium’s growing portfolio of highly flexible bitcoin mining Clean Compute Campuses (Controllable Load Resources “CLR”). The team is the key resource for developing both short and long-term hedging strategies related to the optimization of Lancium’s grid connected and co-located assets and provides pricing and other analytical support services for commercial contracting initiatives and business development.

Reporting to the Vice President of Asset Optimization, this individual will have a strong role in assisting the land acquisition team in choosing optimal sites locations for Lancium’s Clean Compute Campuses and working through the end-to-end transmission interconnection process. This person will be responsible for identifying basis risk across Lancium’s CLR fleet and hedging recommendations using Congestion Revenue Rights and Point-to-Points.

Duties
  • Fully functional ERCOT SCED model that has been tuned
  • Develop in-house software to analyze ERCOT/TDSP interconnection queues for competition assessment and prospective data campus siting
  • Deliver ERCOT transmission and distribution study to company with locational strategy
  • Create a Lancium catalogue identifying the top interconnection locations across US with a focus on low cost energy, grid decarbonization and improving location specific renewable economics
  • Known in company as subject matter expert and go to person
  • Lead transmission modeling and interconnection processes for the development of projects
  • Manage the interconnection process through the application, studies, and IA execution
  • Develop SCED models to understand congestion and curtailment risk for projects
  • Run transmission or distribution modeling and provide feasibility level analysis for projects
  • Develop views on ERCOT congestion across Resource Nodes, Hubs and Load Zones that will be used to structure effective hedging strategies for Lancium’s Clean Compute Campuses
  • Serve as Lancium point of contact with utilities and ISO/RTO's
  • Subject matter expert in tariff procedures and potential rule changes as it pertains to project interconnection in ISO/RTOs
  • Contract and manage consultants for transmission analysis services when necessary
  • Provide conceptual transmission and interconnection designs
  • Key working relationships with land acquisition and operations management
